Centrix KLCC: is this a true transit-oriented development?

A 47-storey high-rise built directly above Dang Wangi LRT — reviewed on video, station by station.

Full analysis above (in Mandarin) — the write-up below covers the same ground in English.

"TOD" gets used loosely in Kuala Lumpur property marketing — plenty of projects call themselves transit-oriented just for sitting a short walk from a station. Centrix KLCC is the rarer case: it's genuinely built directly above one. In this review I look at what that actually means in practice, not just as a tagline.

Built above the LRT, not beside it

Centrix KLCC sits on Jalan Ampang, built directly above Dang Wangi LRT Station (KJ12) on the Kelana Jaya Line. The distinction that matters here is the landowner: PRIDE, the entity that owns the site, is a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad — the same national operator that runs the Kelana Jaya Line itself. That's a structural relationship, not just proximity, and it's what separates a genuine TOD from a project that simply markets itself as one.

The development at a glance

It's a 47-storey, 857-unit high-rise, developed in joint venture between PRIDE, Intan Sekitar Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia-listed Crest Builder Berhad), and DAC Development Holdings Sdn Bhd as the turnkey partner. The project team includes DMP Architects, JPS Consulting Engineers, Perunding PAC, Praxis Design and Veritas Environment as green building consultant. It's a 99-year leasehold title, with a 22,000 sq ft integrated retail podium at the base and completion targeted for 2028–2029.

Facilities are spread across two levels rather than stacked in one spot — a Level 45 sky pool with skyline views, and a Level 11 co-working lounge, plus a viewing deck, BBQ deck and a dedicated kids' play area. From the upper floors, residents get sightlines to four Kuala Lumpur landmarks at once: the KLCC Twin Towers, Merdeka 118, KL Tower and TRX.

Unit types

The unit mix spans more than 20 layout variations across four categories, from 568 sq ft up to 1,187 sq ft:

CategorySize
Studio / 1 Bedroom571 – 871 sq ft
Dual-Key593 – 1,039 sq ft
2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms718 – 1,019 sq ft
3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms1,001 – 1,187 sq ft

The Dual-Key layouts are worth a specific mention if you're buying for rental income — one title, two separately lockable living spaces, which gives you the option to rent both halves independently or keep one for family.

Location: what "2 stops to KLCC" actually looks like

Being built on Dang Wangi Station means the connectivity case isn't theoretical. It's 2 LRT stops to KLCC Station, walking distance to Bukit Nanas Monorail, and connected through to KL Sentral, TRX and Bangsar without needing a car. In real distance: about 900m (7 minutes) to the Petronas Twin Towers, 1.2km to KL Tower, 2.7km to TRX, and 2.5km to Merdeka 118. The surrounding area is dense with Grade A office towers, embassies and international hotels — this is the established KLCC corridor, not an emerging one.

Frequently asked questions

It's built directly above Dang Wangi LRT Station (KJ12) on the Kelana Jaya Line. The land is owned by PRIDE, a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad — the same national operator that runs the LRT — which is what makes the integration structural rather than just a marketing description.
